Vtg NYC Cast Iron Waring Chapman Farquhar Manhole Cover Antique Central Park 19c

What a substantial piece of industrial NYC history! These manhole covers apparently came out of Central Park during a renovation of the grounds a number of years ago. The company, Waring, Chapman, and Farquhar, had the contract for all the drainage and sanitary sewer construction during its construction. These covers are cast with the company name around the edge, some simple raised dots, and a central star. Each measures 22” across and weighs about 50 pounds. Clients have used these for everything from industrial stepping stones in gardens to recessed centrepieces in rustic farm-style tables. 3 available.
